What is the STI test?
The STI test is a home test kit that checks one sample for three sexually transmitted infections: chlamydia, gonorrhoea and trichomonas.
You take the sample yourself, at home, and post it to our lab. Your result is in your account.
Which infections does the STI test check?
The STI test checks your sample for:
- Chlamydia (Chlamydia trachomatis)
- Gonorrhoea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae)
- Trichomonas (Trichomonas vaginalis)
Urine or swab: which sample do you take?
You choose when you order: a urine sample or a swab. The price is the same for both.
A swab is taken from the throat, the rectum or the vagina. One kit is for one site, so you choose the site on this page and your kit comes with the instructions for that site.
How does the STI test work?
You order the kit, take your sample at home, register your kit in your account and post it to our lab. Novi Labtest makes the kit and manages every step; our accredited lab analyses your sample.
What do you get with your result?
You get a result per infection, negative or positive, in your account. Only you see it.
A lab result is not a diagnosis and doesn't replace advice from a doctor. If you have symptoms, or a result is positive, please contact your doctor or a sexual health clinic.

How do you take your sample for the STI test?
Your kit is for the sample you chose: urine, or a swab of one site (throat, rectum or vagina). It takes a few minutes; the instructions in your kit are for your sample.
-
Check your kit
Your kit holds a urine collector and a pipette for a urine sample, or a collection swab for a swab. Both come with a transport tube, the tube stand and the instructions for your sample.
-
Wash your hands
Wash your hands and dry them. Unfold the tube stand and put the transport tube in it.
-
Urine: collect and transfer
Pee into the urine collector [when and how much: advice of our lab]. With the pipette, move urine into the transport tube up to [fill line: from our lab].
-
Swab: take the swab of your site
Open the swab without touching the tip and take it as the instructions for your site show [technique per site: from our lab]. Put the swab in the transport tube.
-
Close the tube
Close the transport tube firmly.
-
Register your kit
In your account, enter the kit code on the tube and the time you took the sample.
-
Pack and post
Put the tube with the absorbent sheet in the safety bag, add the test form and close the return envelope. Post it the same day, on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, so it isn't stuck in the post over the weekend.
